OHS Consultation: Course in OHS Consultation (90502NSW)

Course Overview

This course is designed for OHS Committee members and OHS Representatives.

It aims to familiarise participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply the principles of workplace OHS consultation as an integral part of an effective OHS management system (OHSMS). The course should also assist in the development of appropriate attitudes to enable OHS Committee members and OHS Representatives to effectively carry out their functions under OHS legislation.


Course Aims

The aims of the OHS Consultation training course are to provide participants with:

  1. Knowledge of the requirements for consultation.
  2. Skills to effectively communicate in the role of OHS Committee members or OHS Representatives.
  3. Knowledge of the mechanisms and processes for systematically managing health and safety.
  4. Skills to contribute to the systematic management of health and safety.
  5. Skills to undertake risk management activities.
  6. Knowledge of the need for and ways to ensure continuous improvement in OHS.


Regulatory Requirements

This course is WorkCover NSW accredited and meets all requirements for OHS
consultation training as outlined in the OHS Regulation 2001. Clause 31 of the
OHS Regulation 2001 requires that every committee member and every OHS
Representative do this course as soon as practicable after being elected. However under Clause 32 this will not be necessary if the person already has a valid OHS Committee Course certificate under the previous Act (NSW OHS Act 1983).


Who Should Do the Course?

The primary target group is OHS Committee members, both employee and
employer representatives and elected OHS Representatives. In addition,
participants involved in ‘other agreed arrangements’ may find this course useful.

The Academy Trainer is Accredited by WorkCover NSW and experienced in workplace occupational health & safety.
